Four easy steps to register your business and submit your product listings:

  1. Check and confirm your eligibility.
  2. Login to the Feed BC Directory
    • To login, you will need a BCeID user ID and password. Don’t have one? Sign up for a BCeID
      • A BCeID is a free user account that allows access online services with the B.C. Government.
      • For optimal results, choose a Business BCeID to register for the Feed BC Directory. You will need your business information ready; if you have your incorporation number, as well as your B.C. Registry access code or password, you will receive your BCeID immediately. If not, a code will be sent to you in the mail.
      • You can also use a Basic BCeID which you can receive immediately, but this offers fewer features (such as password recovery).
      • You can only use one user BCeID to access the Feed BC Directory, as we cannot register multiple users at this time.
  3. Create your business profile
    • NOTE that to register your business profile, you MUST be logged into the Feed BC Directory with your BCeID.
    • Once you are logged in, click on REGISTER MY BUSINESS PROFILE (below) to submit information for your business profile. We will approve your business profile as quickly as possible, but this can take up three business days to be approved by Ministry staff.
  4. List your food and beverage products
    • Once your profile is approved, create and submit your product listings.
    • Product listings will be reviewed and posted within approximately three business days.

What do you need to be eligible to register on the Feed BC Directory?

The Feed BC Directory is aimed at B.C. food and beverage businesses that are ready to sell to institutional and commercial buyers.

Each type of buyer is unique in their product needs, and different types of buyers have varying requirements—such as serving requirements for prepared food, volumes and specific labelling and packaging needs. For example, most broadline distributors and food services require food safety and industry certifications to carry your product. Depending on the produce or product offered, there are different food safety programs that can help you meet the specific facilities’ needs. For more information, check out our Tips & Resources for Producers and Processors

To list on the Feed BC Directory, eligible businesses need to be able to meet a level of readiness to sell to markets such as health, education, corrections, foodservice and retail.

To list your product and business information in the Feed BC Directory, you need to meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Your business is entitled to do business in B.C.:
    • Your business holds a legal B.C. registration number and/or GST number
    • For businesses operating on First Nations Reserves, alternative documentation for First Nations businesses include:
      • Band council resolution (BCR)
      • Letter from band authority (e.g. administrator or band manager)
      • Band administered business registration number (applicable for some nations)
  2. Your product is produced and/or processed in B.C. for human consumption, and is:
    • A raw product grown, caught, harvested or raised in B.C., OR
    • A processed food or beverage product where the final product is processed within the borders of B.C. (a product only packaged in B.C. is not eligible, unless combined with another processing activity)
    • See the full definition of B.C. Food and Beverage Products with examples to determine if your products are eligible.
  3. A product that:
    • Is suitable and ready for retail, food service and/or wholesale, AND
    • Is sold to at least one commercial or institutional business outlet (e.g. retail, grocery store, institutional food service, restaurant, wholesaler, etc.). This does not include direct-to-consumer sales such as farm stands or farmers markets, AND
